1. Form Panel
Loading
Strength and stiffness are greatest when
the panel is applied with the long direction (outer
plywood grain) across supports. Table 1 shows the
required panel thickness when applied in this manner.
When the panel is applied with the short direction
accross supports (outer plywood grain parallel to
supports), the required panel thickness may be
determined from Table 2. For more detailed design
information, refer to American Plywood association
"Plywood For Concrete Forming" and to American Concrete
Institute "Formwork for Concrete."
2. Edge Support
Under conditions of high
moisture or sustained load to the panel, edges may have
a greater deflection than the center of the panel and
may exceed calculated deflection unless panel edges are
supported.
3. Special Engineered Systems
Tables 1
& 2 herein are based on standard APA and commercial
standards PS-1 criteria. However certain Olympic Panel
customers and engineered concrete form system
manufacturers may publish different span tables based on
their own system tests, field conditions and experience.
