Concrete Form Plywood
High Density Overlay (HDO) plywood is manufactured in two grades: Concrete Form and Industrial. The main difference is that the overlay used on Concrete Form panels is manufactured with a higher phenolic resin content.
The most typical Concrete Form will be referred to as 100/30. This is a good 1 sided panel and refers to te faces of the panel; 100 will be your good face (the side you will be pouring against). 30 will be the back face (do not pour against this side).
What species is the panel? We stock both DF and SYP but call a Great Northern Lumber problem-solver to assist you to make a better informed buying decision.
How many plies? Great Northern Lumber only stocks 7-ply. Beware of 5-ply panels.
Are you buying 1 Step or 2 Step? Here is the difference:
1 Step HDO Concrete Form Plywood is produced by pressing the veneer and overlay at the same time. It is important to remember that the face veneer is not sanded leaving the potential for grain transfer.
2 Step, however, is produced by pressing the blank and overlay paper separately. The face veneer is fully sanded thus the risk of grain transfer of exposed concrete is greatly reduced. The benefits are numerous:
- Used for most architectural purposes
- Smooth, textured finishes
- Enhanced alkalinity resistance
- Increased number of pours
- Balanced construction ensures panel stability
